About
Bruno Robles-Rendón (b. 2004) is a first generation Mexican-American composer, cellist, and organizer based and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He has written music for various ensembles including Mantra Percussion, JACK Quartet, the Bergamot String Quartet, MACE, and the Mannes Orchestra. He is currently serving as the founder and artistic director of the concert series Notes After which features the voices of many young emerging composers.
Bruno’s music is driven by his insatiable curiosity. He loves to play around and explore new musical concepts with every piece he writes. As a music theory fanatic he sees composition as not just a means to create but also as a means to understand. Bruno loves analyzing music and sharing his findings to others. His musical style draws primarily from minimalism, post-minimalism, modal jazz, alt-pop, ambient, avant-garde and xenharmonic music.
Bruno graduated from the Preparatory of the Mannes School of Music in 2022 as an honors program composition student and cello double major. Bruno is now a 3rd year student in the integrated Bachelor’s-Master’s at the Mannes School of Music were he is pursuing a BM in composition and an MA in Arts Management and Entrepreneurship. He is currently studying under the mentorship Mary Kouyoumdjian after studying with David T. Little and Christopher Cerrone.
Bruno plays alt-rock/shoe-gaze music on the electric guitar with his friends and enjoys improvising on the piano when he's alone. As an avid reader, he loves reading sci-fi and fantasy plus books about music and social sciences.
